Evans Team specializes in working with structures that have been damaged by water. Restoration activities cannot begin until water damaged building materials are documented to be free of excessive moisture.
Utilizing the GE Moisture Measurement System Evans Team performs and documents an analysis of water damaged buildings materials according to IICRC S500 Procedural Standard for drying and sanitizing buildings and contents.
The Evans Team member supervising the inspection and analysis is certified by the IICRC as a Water Damage Restoration Technician and Applied Structural Drying Technician. (IICRC Certification Number 67787)
The IICRC S500 is the industry recognized standard and is referenced by FEMA, EPA and the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists as the accepted method for drying and sanitizing water damaged buildings and contents. This Standard of dryness meets the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Guideline for Re-Occupancy of Flooded Buildings which states "A building should be considered unsafe for occupancy until: All building materials furnishings and HVAC system components have been dried so that they will not support fungal growth."
The building analysis performed by Evans Team allows us to determine what is wet and how wet it is. With this information we can do two things.
1. Develop a scope of selective demolition to remove finish material such as drywall, wood trim and insulation to expose wet structural framing.
2. Develop a drying protocol utilizing air movers that direct 2000 CFM of air in specific patterns to facilitate evaporation and dehumidifiers capable or removing up to 38 gallons of water per day.
By monitoring the temperature, humidity and moisture content of the building materials daily we verify that the drying process is working and we are able to document the return of the building to dry standard condition.
Drying is considered sufficient when moisture content readings of wood materials are measured and documented to be within 4% of Equilibrium Moisture Content according to IICRC S500 Procedural Standard.
Evans Team performed demolition and drying activities in eastern North Carolina on structures damaged by hurricane Isabelle in 2003 and we are still active in Daytona following the four hurricanes which occurred in 2004.
